Clayton, NC (September 26, 2022) – Authorities in Clayton responded to the scene of a car accident with injuries on Saturday, September 24th. The accident happened around 7:45 p.m. on Fire Department Road near Southerland Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was among the agencies that responded to the accident. According to a report from troopers, one car was traveling northbound when the vehicle traveled across the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on. The driver of the northbound vehicle was ejected in the crash and the vehicle caught fire.
Three people in the southbound vehicle were hurt in the accident and all three were taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The driver of the northbound vehicle was later charged with driving while impaired for his role in the collision. No one involved in the accident was identified.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time. There is no additional information available.
