Car Accidents in North Carolina
Car accidents take place hundreds of times per day throughout our state. Major highways such as Interstate 85 are a common area for accidents to occur. These are heavily-traveled roadways for thousands of people each day. At times, these major roadways can become congested along with an increased presence of negligent drivers. Together, this combination results in serious accidents that can harm the lives of motorists.
Under North Carolina law, drivers and passengers who have been hurt in accidents should understand their legal rights following the crash. It is likely that you are experiencing high medical bills, possibly missed time off of work, and pain from the collision. Legally, you have the right to recover for your injuries stemming directly from the accident itself. In most cases, this means that the other driver’s insurance company will step in and attempt to negotiate a resolution with you.
It is important to remember that the insurance company is not on your side and does not work for you. The adjuster will likely try to offer you a quick settlement that does not take into account all of the factors in your case. Accepting this settlement and releasing liability means that your claim is over and you cannot recover for future medical costs or other damages relating to the crash. Their job is to make money for the insurance company and not to ensure that you receive a fair outcome.
Before you agree to a settlement, you should contact an experienced North Carolina car accident lawyer for help with your case. Raleigh personal injury attorney Jason M.
