Burgaw, NC (February 2, 2022) – Officials in Burgaw were called to the scene of a serious accident on Tuesday, February 2nd. The accident took place around 6:30 p.m. on US Highway 421 near.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the reports of the crash. According to officials, a pickup truck and a car were traveling in opposite directions on the highway. The southbound car attempted to pass another vehicle but collided head-on with the northbound truck. Following the accident, both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by rescue officials. The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His identity has not been released at this time. The driver of the car was also transported with critical injuries.
Troopers are still investigating the crash. The road remained closed for about two hours as officials investigated at the scene. There is no further information available.
