Carolina Beach, NC – Two Hurt in DWI Pedestrian Crash on Ocean Blvd.

Carolina Beach, NC (July 26, 2020) – Two pedestrians were hurt in a crash involving an impaired driver in Carolina Beach. According to reports from the scene, the crash took place on Thursday, July 23rd around 7:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Ocean Boulevard.

Multiple agencies, including the Carolina Beach Police Department, the Carolina Beach Fire Department, and the New Hanover County EMS arrived at the scene following reports of a pedestrian crash. When police arrived, they determined two pedestrians were walking on Ocean Boulevard when they were hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as 58-year-old Alexander Edward Zielinski of Kure Beach.

The pedestrians were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. At this time, it is unclear if the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. The identity of the injured victims has not been released. Following an investigation, officers determined that Zielinski was impaired. He was later arrested and charged with driving while impaired. He was then taken to the New Hanover County Jail and placed under a $10,000 bond.

An investigation into the accident is still ongoing at this time. No further details have been released.
