Raleigh, NC (June 19, 2020) – A 40-year-old man is dead after a pedestrian crash in Raleigh. The collision took place around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19th.
The Raleigh Police Department was called to the scene at East Millbrook Road near the intersection with Capital Boulevard. Police report that Charles Downey, 40, of Creedmoor was walking eastbound on East Milbrook when he was was hit by a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Javier-Joel Negron-Villegas of Raleigh. Rescue workers rushed Downey to a local area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Negron-Villegas fled the scene but was later arrested at his home. He faces a charge of felony hit-and-run and additional charges are possible.
