Fatal Accidents in North Carolina  Graham, NC - Two Dead in Car Accident on Greensboro Chapel Hill Rd.

Fatal crashes in North Carolina are reported each day on our state’s roadways. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, about 1,500 people are killed annually in North Carolina car accidents. Each fatal accident must be closely investigated by police. However, most serious and deadly crashes have some common factors. Mainly, these accidents are caused by careless drivers. A driver who violates traffic laws is far more likely to cause a serious accident and also to cause harm to an innocent motorist.

North Carolina law provides relief to family members who have lost their loved one in an untimely manner due to someone else’s negligence. Under our state’s wrongful death statute, the victim’s closest relatives, or next-of-kin, are able to file a claim for the wrongful death of their family member. These claims must be asserted within two years of the date of the accident or they can be lost forever. It is important to make sure that your rights are protected following a fatal accident. In order to do this, you should speak with a skilled and experienced attorney as soon as possible after the accident.
