Charlotte, NC – Four Hurt when Driver Backs Over Crowd of People

Charlotte, NC (July 13, 2020) – Four people were hurt when a driver backed over a crowd of people in Charlotte on Sunday. The crash happened just before 10:00 a.m. on Phifer Avenue.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the woman had been handing out food to homeless people just prior to the crash. As she got into her vehicle to leave, she attempted to pull forward out of a parking space. However, the woman inadvertently put her vehicle in reverse, drove over a curb, and ran over a crowd of people. Four people were injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver’s name has not been released. There is no word on whether charges are expected to be filed.
