Sampson County, NC – Angel Consola Polo Killed in Pedestrian Crash

Sampson County, NC (June 22, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed in a crash involving an impaired driver in Sampson County on Sunday. The crash took place just before 1:00 a.m. on OBJ Road in Plain View.

According to police, 32-year-old Angel De Jesus Consola Polo was walking along OBJ Road when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Robert McCullen, II of Dunn. McCullen was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on OBJ Trail when he crossed the center line and the truck ran off the left side of the roadway. As the truck left the road, it struck Polo who was standing on the grassy shoulder.

Polo died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Police later arrested McCullen and charged him with driving while impaired, felony death by motor vehicle, and reckless driving.
