Robeson County, NC – Jessica Rice Killed in Car Accident on U.S. 301

Robeson County, NC (December 28, 2020) – A 30-year-old woman from Lumberton died in a two-car crash that took place in Robeson County on Saturday, December 26th. The accident happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 301, near the intersection with Powersville Road.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to Sgt. James McVicker, Jessica Renee Rice was operating a 2001 Saturn passenger vehicle on U.S. 301 when she attempted to make a left turn onto Powersville Road. As Rice was making the turn, her car collided with an oncoming 2014 pickup truck operated by Taylor Paige Long, of St. Pauls.

Rice was rushed to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she died from injuries sustained in the accident. Her passengers, 43-year-old Michael Locklear, and a 6-year-old girl were also transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Long was also transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers are still investigating the crash in order to determine the cause. No further information has been released at this time.
