Raleigh, NC- Two-Car Crash with Injuries Reported on I-540

Raleigh, NC (November 26, 2020) – Two cars were involved in a crash on Interstate 540 in Raleigh on Wednesday evening. The crash happened around 9:00 p.m. about a mile from the exit for Falls of Neuse Road.

The Raleigh Police Department, along with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, responded to the crash scene. According to a report from troopers, a car was traveling westbound on I-540 when the driver crossed over the median and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle. Both drivers suffered injuries in the crash and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. They are both expected to recover and the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Following an investigation, police charged the driver of the first vehicle with failure to maintain lane control and driving with expired tags. There is no word on what caused the vehicle to cross the median at this time.
