North Carolina Motorcycle Accidents  Raleigh, NC - Motorcyclist Killed in Collision on S. Saunders St.

North Carolina motorcycle accidents are on the rise. With more than a 20% increase in fatal motorcycle accidents between 2017 and 2018, the numbers on motorcycle accidents are concerning. Motorcyclists who are involved in crashes are far more likely to receive serious injuries or lose their lives than motorists in passenger cars or more traditional vehicles. The main reason for this difference is the lack of protection offered by motorcycles. In the event of a crash, the motorcyclist is likely to absorb most of the force of the impact and can be thrown from their bike following the collision. Motorcyclists suffer head injuries, spinal cord trauma, broken bones, and other major injuries at a far higher rate in crashes compared to other motorists.

The cause of each motorcycle crash must be carefully investigated. Motorcycle accidents in North Carolina are caused by many reasons but many of them are not the fault of the motorcyclist. Drivers who fail to see motorcycles before it is too late are the main reason for many crashes. Other accidents are caused when drivers fail to yield or follow a motorcycle too closely which can result in a deadly collision.
