Morrisville, NC (August 25, 2020) – A man was killed in a crash in Morrisville after being hit by a driver that was fleeing from police. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 23 around 11:00 p.m. on Page Road.
According to reports, a Durham County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2016 Hyundai sedan at the intersection of Page Road and Lumley Road. He suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The Hyundai driver was later identified by authorities as Jalen Lamar Williams, of Durham. Williams was taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is looking into crash and making a determination as to what charges will be filed. There is no additional information available.
We offer our most sincere condolences to the family of Cameron Marshall Minnis during this difficult time.
Fatal Car Accident in Morrisville
Last year in North Carolina, there were more than 1,400 fatalities reported in traffic crashes that took place across our state. This averages out to about three deadly accidents each day. In addition, more than 80,000 people are injured, some of them seriously, in North Carolina car accidents in 2019. Sadly, hundreds of innocent victims are killed each year when they come into contact with a negligent driver. These victims are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, and the consequences can be quite devastating.
If you have lost a loved one in a North Carolina car accident, you are no doubt going through the most difficult time of your life. The pain and grief from these incidents can quickly turn to frustration and anger as you seek to hold the responsible party accountable. Speeding, reckless driving, impairment, and distracted driving all contribute to the high number of fatalities that take place each year on North Carolina’s roadways.
Under our law, the family of a crash victim may have the right to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver responsible for the accident. These claims must be filed within two years of the date of death and they allow loved ones to obtain much-needed compensation. While no amount of money can bring your family member back, we understand that could be facing financial difficulties following such a sudden tragedy and that you want to ensure justice is served.
