Lincoln County, NC – Paramedic Hurt in Head-On Crash on Highway 73

Lincoln County, NC (September 3, 2020) – A paramedic was hurt following a head-on crash in Lincoln County on Thursday, September 3rd. The crash took place around 7:30 a.m. along Highway 73 near East Lincoln High School.

According to reports, the paramedic was working for Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services and was riding in an ambulance that was traveling to its assigned base when the crash occurred. Rescue workers extricated the paramedic from the vehicle following the crash. The injured victim was taken to Atrium Main Hospital in Charlotte for treatment of serious injuries. There is no further word on their condition at this time and the victim’s identity has not been released. The driver was of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Police have not said what caused the accident to occur. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.  Troopers have not said whether they expect to file any charges against the other driver. There is no further information available at this time.
