Halifax County, NC – 14-Year-Old Killed in DUI Crash on N.C. 903

Halifax County, NC (May 25, 2021) – A 14-year-old boy was killed in a crash involving a drunk driver in Halifax County over the weekend. The collision happened on Sunday, May 23rd at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Authorities with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were called to the crash scene. According to a report from troopers, a car was traveling on Highway 903 when it was rear-ended by a second vehicle. Both the driver and 14-year-old passenger of the first vehicle were ejected from the car. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital. The 14-year-old boy suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following an investigation, police arrested the driver of the second vehicle, later identified as 51-year-old Edward Lee Moody. Moody, of Scotland Neck, was charged with felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired.
