Duplin County, NC (October 5, 2020) – Police and emergency workers responded to the scene of a serious crash in Duplin County near Kenansville on Sunday, October 4th. The crash took place around 9:15 p.m. on North Carolina Highway 24 near Grumman Powell Road.
According to officials, a pickup truck was traveling the wrong way on Highway 24 when it collided head-on with a passenger vehicle. When rescue crews arrived, they found one person trapped inside a vehicle. The victim was extricated and airlifted to a nearby trauma hospital. A second victim was transported by ambulance to Vidant Duplin Hospital. Neither of the victims has been identified at this time and there is no word on the cause of the accident.
The crash is being investigated by the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. There is no additional information available at this time.
