Charlotte, NC – Lydia Morales Garcia Struck, Killed in Crash on Oakdale Road

Charlotte, NC (August 15, 2020) – A woman from Charlotte was killed after she was hit by a pickup truck on Thursday, August 13th. The crash took place on Oakdale Road.
According to reports from the scene, 51-year-old Lydia Morales Garcia was standing near Oakdale Road. Garcia observed a boy run into the road to chase a ball. At the same time, a pickup truck was coming towards the boy. Garcia saw the child and was able to push him out of the way of the oncoming truck. The boy avoided being hit, however, the truck crashed into Garcia.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and administered medical treatment to Garcia. She was later transported to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The child was also taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons but he was later released. The driver involved in the crash has not been identified by authorities.
An investigation remains ongoing, however, neither speed nor alcohol appeared to play a role in the accident. There have been no charges filed at this time.
