Winston-Salem, NC (April 4, 2022) – A 5-year-old girl in Winston-Salem was hit by a car on Sunday, April 3rd. The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. on New Walkertown Road.
According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, the girl and her dad were walking home from a family member’s house when they were attempting to cross the street to get to a bus stop. As they crossed, the girl was hit by an oncoming car. Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed the young girl to Brenner Children’s Hospital where she was placed in the ICU with serious injuries.
There were no other injuries reported in the accident and the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. Police continue to investigate at this time. There is no word on whether any charges are expected.
