Thomasville, NC – Police Officer Hurt in Chase on U.S. 29

Thomasville, NC (March 4, 2021) – A Thomasville police officer was hurt in a crash that took place on Thursday, March 4th. The incident happened on Kanoy Road at U.S. Highway 29/70 and involved a suspect that was fleeing from officers.

According to a report from the scene, 29-year-old Brian Alexander Bacelli, of Jamestown, was riding a motorcycle and was being chased by police. As the chase was ongoing, Bacelli struck the Thomasville officer. The officer, who was not immediately identified, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment. The officer is listed in serious condition but was conscious and alert when he was airlifted.

Bacelli was arrested following the chase and taken to jail. There were no additional injuries reported. No further information is available.
