Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in North Carolina Salisbury, NC - Antonio Alexander Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Old Concord Rd.

According to statistics released by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there were a total of 2,435 pedestrian crashes in North Carolina in 2018. Of this number, 225 people were killed and 2,210 sustained injuries of varying degrees. The percentage of deaths and injuries in pedestrian crashes is far higher than for other types of crashes. The danger of being seriously hurt in a North Carolina pedestrian accident is, unfortunately, quite high. With over 80% of these collisions resulting in injury, pedestrians often find themselves suffering from life-altering effects following an accident.

A pedestrian crash must be carefully investigated by authorities in order to determine who should be held responsible for the accident. Investigators will look at a variety of factors, including whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident, whether the driver was distracted or impaired, and whether the crash could have been avoided with reasonable efforts on the part of the driver. All of these questions and more are considered in determining if the driver’s negligence caused the crash.

If you or a loved one have been hurt in a pedestrian accident, you may have valuable and important legal rights. Under North Carolina law, you could be entitled to recover damages for lost wages, medical bills, pain and suffering, and more. Given the serious nature of these accidents, the stakes are very high and you should not trust your future with just any attorney.
