Randolph County, NC – Individual on Moped Injured in Hit-and-Run on Hwy. 220

Randolph County, NC (September 17, 2020) – An individual on a moped suffered injuries in a hit-and-run accident that took place on U.S. Highway 220 in Randolph County on Thursday, September 17th. The crash took place around 6:37 a.m. near Cedar Grove Road.

According to investigators, a man was traveling northbound on a moped when he was struck by another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle drove away after striking the moped. The moped rider was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, however, he is expected to make a full recovery. The person on the moped has not been identified at this time. There is no word on the events leading up to the crash. Police are still searching for the suspect and an investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
