A car accident in North Carolina can turn your world upside down in a matter of seconds. While we should all take basic safety precautions to avoid crashes from occurring, many accidents are unavoidable due to the presence of negligent drivers on our roadways. In many cases, crash victims are not left with enough time to react and there is nothing that can be done to keep the accident from occurring. However, statistics do tell us that more than 90% of car accidents are caused by avoidable driving behaviors that originate with negligent drivers.

If you have been injured in a car accident in our state, you should first seek medical treatment as soon as possible. This will prevent your injuries from worsening and will help you achieve recovery sooner. Failing to obtain a diagnosis right away can result in additional complications that will prolong your recovery and could also increase your medical costs in the future.

After you have sought treatment, you should speak with an experienced North Carolina car accident lawyer as soon as possible. Only a skilled and trusted attorney can fully advise you of your legal rights and which direction you should turn following an accident. It is important to be aware of your right to receive appropriate compensation from a negligent driver. This compensation can include payments for medical and prescription costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and potentially more.
