Pitt County, NC – Woman Hospitalized Following Two-Car Accident on N.C. 43

Pitt County, NC (January 19, 2021) – A woman was injured in a two-car accident that took place in Pitt County on Tuesday, January 19th. The accident occurred around 11:00 a.m. on North Carolina Highway 43 near Chicod.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to the scene following the crash. According to a report from the scene, a woman was driving a Jeep SUV in a northbound direction on Highway 43. At the same time, another woman was driving a Ford Explorer eastbound on Stokestown Road when the vehicles came to the intersection at the same time. As the Ford approached the intersection, the driver failed to yield to the Jeep, causing the two cars to collide with each other. Following the initial accident, the Jeep struck a furniture store building before coming to rest.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to Vidant Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries following the accident. After an investigation, troopers charged the Ford driver with failing to yield the right-of-way.
