Morrisville, NC – Five Hurt in DWI Crash on I-40

Morrisville, NC  (December 11, 2020) – Police and rescue workers responded to the scene of a serious accident in Morrisville on Thursday night. The crash took place around 10:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the exit for Airport Boulevard.

Police say that four cars were involved in the crash. A total of five people were taken to the hospital with injuries, two of them with serious injuries. Officials say that an impaired driver was responsible for causing the accident. There is no word on the conditions of the victims at this time. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours until it reopened for traffic. Motorists were advised to use caution when traveling in the area.

The driver who caused the accident was charged with DWI, reckless driving, and possession of an open container. No additional details have been reported at this time.
