Maxton, NC – Two Killed in Saturday Crash on Highway 130

Lumberton, NC (March 29, 2022) – Police in Maxton responded to the scene of a deadly car accident on Saturday, March 26th. The accident occurred on North Carolina Highway 130, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

First Sgt. S.B. Lewis of the NCSHP reported that a vehicle was traveling on Highway 130 when the driver, identified as 21-year-old Amanda Jones, ran off the road to the right. Jones’s vehicle then collided with a tree before coming to rest off the roadway. Both Jones and her passenger, 29-year-old Destiny Locklear, were killed in the crash.

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident and no other injuries were reported. At this time, there is no word on the cause of the accident. Troopers are still investigating.
