Lumberton, NC (March 15, 2022) – Police in Lumberton were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in Lumberton on Tuesday, March 15th. The accident took place on Interstate 95 near mile marker 4.
According to Sgt. S.B. Lewis with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, two vehicles were involved in the initial collision. After the first crash, a third vehicle collided with one of the wrecked vehicles. When troopers arrived, they discovered one person critically wounded. The victim succumbed to their injuries. There is no word on whether anyone else was hurt in the crash. Police have not said how the crash took place.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area while troopers investigated at the scene. There is no further information available at this time.
