Lincoln County, NC – Two Dead in Campground Road Car Accident

Lincoln County, NC (March 27, 2021) – Two men were killed following a two-vehicle crash in Lincoln County on Friday. The collision was reported around 1:00 p.m. on Campground Road at the intersection with Pine Ridge Drive.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling westbound on Campground Road. The driver of the Avalanche crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 2002 GMC Yukon that was traveling eastbound. The Chevrolet driver, 28-year-old Alexander Hickman, was critically hurt in the crash. Hickman’s passenger, 74-year-old Michael Spillars, died at the scene. Hickman was airlifted to Atrium Health in Charlotte.  The driver of the Yukon, 73-year-old Boyce Moore, died at the scene.

Troopers say that speed and reckless driving played a role in the crash.  Motorists were advised to find alternate routes and to avoid the area if possible.
