Charlotte, NC – Melba Aguilar-Amaya Killed in Pedestrian Crash

Charlotte, NC (June 14, 2020) – A 34-year-old woman was killed in a Charlotte pedestrian crash on Friday evening. The crash took place just after 11:00 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Sugar Creek Road.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the crash scene shortly after the incident took place. When officers arrived, they found a woman lying in the roadway in front of a Shell gas station. The victim was later identified as Melba Emerita Aguilar-Amaya. She was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.

The driver who struck Amaya stopped after the collision and remained on the scene to cooperate with the police investigation. The driver’s identity has not been released and no other injuries were reported.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
