Apex, NC – 18-Year-Old Woman Killed in Tuesday Train Crash

Apex, NC (June 9, 2021) – An 18-year-old woman was killed after being hit by an Amtrak train in Apex on Tuesday, June 8th. The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. on the train tracks near U.S. Highway 64 East.

The woman was with a 17-year-old girl when she was struck while walking near the tracks. The 17-year-old was not hit. At this point, there is no word on the events that led up to the collision. The incident occurred in an area that was not a designated railroad crossing. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time. Police are continuing to investigate the crash but do not believe that any foul play was involved.
